Compressing to a specific size
How do I compress an image to 200KB?
Set the target to 200 KB (or tap the 200KB preset), drop your image, and Kilo automatically finds the best quality that stays under 200KB. Then download it. Everything happens in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Compress a photo to under 1MB for email or a website
Choose the 1MB preset (or type 1 and switch the unit to MB). Kilo keeps as much quality as possible while landing under 1MB — ideal for attachments and upload limits.
Compress a passport or visa photo to a required size
Many government and job portals require images under a set size (often 50KB–200KB). Enter that exact number as your target and Kilo will get your photo under the limit. For dimension requirements, use the Resize tool first.
Will it reduce the image dimensions too?
Only if it has to. Kilo first lowers quality to hit your target; if the target is very small it will gently scale the image down as well, and it tells you the final dimensions.
